There's a new perfume that smells like kitten fur

For many of us, snuggling up to a small soft kitten on a lazy afternoon is nothing short of bliss.

And now it’s possible to be transported back to that very moment wherever you are by spritzing yourself with a new fragrance from US company Demeter: a perfume that smells of kitten fur.

This new scent has apparently been 15 years in the making, according to the perfumery’s website. We guess that’s just how long it takes to successfully capture “the olfactory essence of the warmth and comfort of that purrfect spot, just behind a kitten’s neck”.

So, the big question: What does a kitten’s neck smell like?

The Facebook comments section, as is often the case, is the place to go for the most creative suggestions around.

Aime Cherie Parrett wrote: “A mix between newborn baby, a freshly baked loaf of bread and the scent of home.”

Joy Woofindin contributed: “Mine smelled like baby powder and cinnamon/spice bread.”

While Michelle Bowman brought things crashing back down to reality with: “I imagine the top notes are a combination of litter dust and cat spit?”

The New York based company seems to be something of a regular venturer into the unusual smells world though, with other popular products including tennis balls, moonbeam (we don’t know either) and even mildew.

Whatever floats your boat.
